Callie's First Real Haircut

I decided Callie needed an actual hair style today, not just a little trim. I called the salon where I get my hair done, and tried to explain to them that she had a lot of hair. I don't think they believed me! Anyway, she sat so still, and just watched everything.

Heidi visits The Police

I took a really fun overnight trip to Tampa yesterday to see The Police in concert. I've always been a Sting fan, and Jason and I saw him in concert several years ago. So, when The Police decided to reunite, I knew I had to go! My brother (also named Jason) lives in Tampa, and I convinced him to go with me. He claims to "sort of remember" The Police, even though he is 5 years younger than me. The concert was great, and we had fun watching some very interesting dancers around us. Clearly Jason and I inherited the same "I-can't-dance" gene!

4th of July

4th of July Fun

We had a really fun 4th of July! In the morning, we went to a local park and played games and took pictures with Curious George. We ran into our friends Courtney, Jeremy, and Olivia, and had some great italian ice. After a family nap, Courtney and Jeremy brought Olivia over for some swimming. Then we all headed out to a great 4th of July party. Someone from our church has some land with a pond and a stream running through it. He built a deck around the pond and has a huge diving platform, diving board, and swim area. There were lots of people there having a great time. Another of our friends, Stacey Severance, provided the music with his band. It was such fun to get to hear him sing and watch the kids play with each other.

More Camping Fun--sort of!

We had quite a camping trip. We left a few hours after Jason got back from his Wisconsin interview trips. We quickly packed last minute things and we were off. We got to the beach around 5:00 pm. Our plan was to unload our stuff and head out to eat before the kids got too hungry. So much for plans!! As we pulled into our site, we realized that we did not have our camper keys. After a few minutes of the "blame game" Jason was able to break in by squeezing his body through an outside compartment and underneath the sofa. He unlocked the door, but then it closed behind him and locked again. So, he had to repeat the squeeze procedure! Picture screaming, hungry kids, and two grumpy parents. Anyway, we finally headed out to eat around 7. We hit the local Pizza Hut buffet, thinking it would be fast. WRONG! We apparently found the only pizza buffet that didn't actually have pizza. After waiting 15 minutes, they finally brought out one pizza to a crowded restaurant. Everyone ran up to the buffet to find . . . a dessert pizza!?!?!?! After another 10 minutes of nothing, we paid for our drinks and left. Not a good start to our trip! The next day we realized that I had forgotten underwear for Connor and swimsuits for Callie. After a quick shopping trip, things got much better.

One night we drew a treasure map and buried some "treasure" on the beach for both of the kids. Connor had lots of fun following his map and digging up his treasure. He ran up to people on the beach to tell them about what he had found.

The campground has a climbing wall and trampolines. Connor liked to climb a few feet and then go down. According to him "going down is the best part"

Pool Party

We had some friends over for a pool party this morning. What fun! We're going to make it an ongoing event. After swimming, everyone ate their picnic lunches, and then headed home for naps.

Camping!

We took our second camping trip last weekend. Connor and Callie had lots of fun digging in the sand at the beach. Our campsight was about 100 feet from the beach, so we just loaded up our stuff and walked over. Both kids loved playing in the water and getting sand in all their tiny crevices!

The next day we went to the campground pool. They have a lazy river and kiddie area, plus a huge regular pool, so there is plenty to do. Connor loves to ride his bike around the campground, and Callie gets to be princess in her bike trailer. On the way to the pool, Callie decided she needed goggles, so she put these on all by herself.

The picture on top is Callie and Jason last week, and the picture on the bottom is Connor and Jason in 2004. I love these pictures!

So I guess this means we're done with the beach for the day.

I wondered why people were laughing as I drove by them.
